College football scores, NCAA top 25 rankings, schedule, games today: Notre Dame in action, Georgia wins – CBSSports.com

Week 9 of the college football schedule is light on games between ranked teams but features plenty of potential for upsets as conference races begin to take shape and the College Football Playoff picture comes into focus. It’s also a critical tune-up week for a pair of CFP contenders in No. 1 Clemson and No. 4 Notre Dame. Both the Fighting Irish and Tigers must defeat unranked foes Saturday before gearing up for a showdown next week that will have massive implications.

Clemson will be without starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence when it hosts Boston College after Lawrence tested positive for COVID-19. Lawrence’s absence means the pressure will be on freshman D.J. Uiagalelei. Meanwhile, if Notre Dame is going to keep pace with Clemson next week, it needs a good showing in the downfield passing game when it travels to Georgia Tech after the Irish took strides in that regard during a dominant win over Pittsburgh last week. Clemson and Notre Dame are just two of 20 ranked teams scheduled to be in action during another jam-packed college football Saturday.

There’s a lot to cover with those games and everything in between. CBS Sports will be here every step of the way to update you with the latest scores, highlights and storylines throughout the day. All times Eastern
